What does turbocharge mean?

A turbocharger (Tubro) is actually an air compressor. It uses the exhaust gas discharged from the engine as power to drive the turbine in the turbine chamber (located in the exhaust port), and the turbine drives the coaxial impeller to be located in the intake port. The impeller compresses the fresh air sent by the air filter pipe, into the cylinder again. When the engine speed is accelerated, the exhaust gas discharge speed and the turbine speed are also accelerated simultaneously, the degree of air compression is increased, the intake air volume of the engine is correspondingly increased, and the output power of the engine can be increased.

The general structure of the turbocharger, the exhaust gas turbocharger is mainly composed of a pump wheel and a turbine, and of course there are other control elements. The pump wheel and the turbine are connected by a shaft, that is, the rotor.

What are the parts of a turbocharger?

The turbine consists of two parts, one is the fresh air supercharging end, the other is the exhaust gas driving end, and there is an impeller at each end. On the same shaft, the shaft is supported by a shaft sleeve. The rotational power of the turbocharger wheel comes from the exhaust gas. The turbocharger housing is made of nickel, chromium and silicon alloy, and the shaft is made of chromium and molybdenum alloy. More importantly, the turbocharger works under high temperature and high speed conditions. In order to ensure its normal operation, oil and coolant are introduced into the turbocharger to ensure effective lubrication and cooling and improve working conditions. . The exhaust gas with high temperature and certain pressure from the engine enters the supercharger, and the impeller that pushes the shaft rotates at a high speed of tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of revolutions per minute. Under load, the impeller speed can reach 135,000 rpm, and ordinary bearings cannot withstand the high temperature and wear caused by such a high speed.
